About Medusa Cucina Siciliana

Sicily is a fertile, fiery island located smack in the middle of the Mediterranean. The largest of all the Mediterranean islands, Sicily has been part of Italy since 1861 but before that, the fierce island had many different rulers. All leaving behind their own culinary imprint. At Medusa, we honor this rich, complex heritage by bringing the dynamic flavors of Sicily to the heart of Detroit.

Regional pizza styles are the best guide to what actually lands on the table. New York-style is a thin, foldable slice from a large pie; Neapolitan is a soft, charred, wood-fired pizza eaten with a knife and fork; Chicago deep-dish is a thick, layered pie baked in a pan that takes 30-45 minutes; tavern-style (Chicago thin crust) is cracker-thin and cut into squares; Detroit-style is a rectangular pan pizza with caramelized cheese edges; Sicilian and grandma pies are thick or thin square pies from the Northeast; New Haven apizza is a coal-fired, oblong, charred pie; St. Louis-style uses a cracker crust and Provel cheese. Shops that specialize in one style usually say so in the name or on the menu board.

Detroit is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Detroit follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I had a great experience! Food and drinks were really tasty. The atmosphere is so cool really giving it an Italian European vibe. I missed patio season so I’ll be back! Waitress was very pleasant. There wasn’t any chicken options which I was a little disappointed but I got an eggplant dish which was really flavorful! Music was a vibe

Sat at the bar. Had chef tasting menu. It was very good and a lot of food. Wasn’t a big fan of the very loud clubby music. Patio area is huge. Great service at the bar.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We did the tasting menu, and it was absolutely delicious! Every course came out hot, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The entire experience felt thoughtful from start to finish. One of the most unique touches was that they gave us a fun newspaper written by the chef, which added so much personality and made the meal even more memorable. The staff was welcoming, the pacing of the courses was great, and the attention to detail really stood out. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience in Detroit, I highly recommend Medusa Cucina. We can’t wait to come back!

What a fantastic dining experience…from the street food to the large plates everything was delicious. Since there were four of us we had a nice sampling of several items which were all excellent…l really enjoyed my margarita cocktail, the tomato and anchovy bread, the grilled sardines, mixed lettuce salad and whole grilled Branzino! Portions are more than enough to share family style. We were too full for dessert. Wonderful service and lively atmosphere! Will definitely return to try other menu items.

Great night at Medusa. We were greeted by a friendly host and seated right away, which set a great tone for the evening. The restaurant has a very Mediterranean, beachy feel with lots of yellows and whites. The dΓ©cor includes the classic Sicilian ceramic head planters known as Testa di Moro, which added a really fun and authentic touch. I really enjoyed the overall look and relaxed vibes of the space. The food was decent with a unique twist on traditional Sicilian dishes. Our favorites of the night were the anellini con broccoli and the Insalata Siciliana. Both had great flavor and stood out from the rest of what we tried. The wine list is extensive and fun to browse, with a lot of imported bottles that you don’t see everywhere. One of the highlights was the cannoli cart that’s brought right to the table. It’s such a fun touch and makes dessert feel like an experience. The cannolis themselves were good and a great way to end the meal.
